What is a Mummy MOT
A Mummy MOT is a specialist postnatal examination for women following both vaginal and caesarean deliveries. It will assess how your posture, pelvic floor muscles and stomach muscles are recovering after birth. And if they’re not, then we can provide you with exercises and treatment to help in your recovery and to return to exercise safely- whatever your goals are.
Mums need to bend, squat and lift so we provide clinical postnatal care and functional exercises for our clients following birth. You may have also have personal goals such as returning to sport, exercise or work. Mummy MOT can assist you will all of the above. You are able to book a Mummy MOT from 6 weeks after your delivery, but it is never “too late” to get an assessment- even if you’re a mum with grown-up children this can still be suitable for you. You do not need to be referred by your GP or health visitor but normally you would of had your 6 week check up before the appointment.

What can I expect from my Mummy MOT appointment?
It is a 1 hour assessment including:
- Postural and functional movement screening
- Pelvic floor muscle assessment
- Abdominal muscle exam to check for muscle separation
- Screening for common post-natal problems such as bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction
For some mums, this will be a one-off assessment. For others, there will be a tailored rehabilitation program, individual to your symptoms, goals and lifestyle. All decisions regarding treatment will be made collaboratively – you will always be in control
